#149 – Do Post Numbers Matter Anymore?

Voice dictating from my phone, because I’m about ready to zonk out for the night. Is the paragraphs look choppy, it’s just because I’m not used to the Android phone client.

It’s been over 2 years, and I’m still alive, and I’m thinking about getting a bit more active as many places as possible, or at least outside of Facebook and Instagram. I’ll see if I can update my links here when I get a moment. It is quite late at night.

Bridget liked my illustration that I based off her photo, I’ll see if I can link to the completed version, either inserting it here, or linking to my deviantART page. She’s dropped off the net again, about four months ago, but I do have faith that one day, she will return once again. She was my inspiration to drag my ass out of the closet, and become more substantial in the real world. I have not looked back since. Better late than never.

Still working, although I have changed jobs after nearly 3 years at my most recent temp job. Think I might be doing gig work for a while, unless I can find something more substantial. Thankfully, the staffing agency I’m with, one of the majors, has a local office where the staff have my back.

Yes, there have been changes to the theme for the site. After the last major PHP updates with my hosting provider, the theme I’ve been using for about the last handful of years broke, and it looks like it’s no longer supported with current versions of PHP and WordPress. I’m going to work on finding a successor theme that I can tweak to make my own style. Don’t ask me about brands. I can barely establish my own brand.

Always, I am mostly active on Facebook, and Instagram. I still have faint presences on Twitter, as well as deviantART, YouTube, and Tumblr, but those are super low output. I’m working on experimenting with streaming on Twitch, and I do follow a few people out there. I am also working on my personal discord, I just need to do a crash course in how to promote and build out my presence. If I can get a few extra bucks, it will greatly help. I’m just a few cents above wage slaving, but still managed to pay the bills in a house. It’s been an adventure for over the past 6 years, and almost dying over 3 years ago.

So, that’s my update. I can’t make any promises, but I’ll be happy to get a few paragraphs up here, even if it’s just linking back to Facebook and/or Instagram. The important thing for me, is achieving consistency.

In closing, a shout out to the love of my life, Lauren, who I am always grateful for seeing something in me that I didn’t even see in myself. Thank you for being you, and for throwing grenades at me once in a while when I get out of line ? — Love mew, and I’m passing out within minutes.

#147 – In Hospital, And Then Rehabilitation…

Admitted to HonorHealth John C. Lincoln Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma center for Phoenix in the HonorHealth network, I spent around nine days there, around half of those days being unconscious, in a series of three operations.

My sister was there early on, my father arrived from California about a day afterward, and stayed through most of the first few days. I came to around October 5th or so, and came out to my father as julie Anne. I was determine to let Dad know, just in case I didn’t make it out of the Trauma ICU. Fortunately, my body wasn’t ready to give up that easily, though I was in a tremendous amount of pain, and Dad took my coming out better than I thought and feared.

#146 – September 30, 2017 And Afterward

Facebook post from October 5, 2017:

For those of you who wondering what happened to me, I was in an automobile accident Saturday morning. I am recuperating at Honor Health North Mountain in the ICU. I am hoping to be released to a regular room in a few days.

(Edited to correct effects of eye strain and lessened motor control.)

Just after 4:00 am Pacific/Arizona Mountain time, my 2011 Buick Regal collided with a larger and slower moving vehicle on Arizona State Route 101, eastbound. I didn’t have time to react, bracing for impact, and almost certain death.

There were moments before and after the crash that are lost to the ages, either blacked out by myself, or just not remembered. I do remember the sound of impact, the screeching of tires, breaking glass, and components from the dashboard and center console coming off.

#144 — Tweaking The Site Slightly…

New top-of-page image (The big banner is gone, but the Toast in Toast AND JAM! remains, in a “remastered” version (reconstructed from a version of the original artwork I carried across three hard drives and two desktop computers.)

There’s been a slight tweak to the bottom of the page. All security and stability updates are checked often. Somehow, I managed to log over 1000 site views over the weekend, and I’ve connected with the person I mirrored blog posts from. Hi, Paige! ^_^

Carry on, folks!

#143 — Ok, What’s Up With You Lately? (Recap Post)

Well, since our last episode, I ended one job (More or less proving to myself that I’m not meant to ever work in a call center environment ever again.), had a brief experience with Postmates in Phoenix/Scottstale/Tempe, took another seasonal job with Amazon (Second and last time I’ll ever do that… More later… maybe), and am still looking for more permanent work.

The stretch goal, is finding a line of work where I can be me, which, may lead to opening the door to being me full time.

On the home front, I’m being a good uncle (and eventually aunt) to my very young nephew, helping out my sister when I can, and working to keep a roof over my head (And also providing for my Lola-cat =^_^= ) – I’m still getting out and about every chance I can, whether to the stores, restaurants, coffee, Rocky Horror twice a month with cast, getting out and about with friends on cast and off-cast, and just… surviving.

As always, I still miss my mom, and wish I would have come out to her. I did come out to my sister, and her husband. (Sis lost her husband at the beginning of the year – When it rains, it pours for my family. We’re getting by, the best we can.)

I can’t make any guarantees on how often I’ll post here, but I’m glad I have a place, in addition to Facebook, and other points of presence online.

Thanks for stopping by, and don’t be a stranger, ok?

#140 – Irony, as in “Gimme an ‘R!’ Gimme an ‘O!’…

…And a “C” and a “K”, and of course, a “Y”

“What’s that spell?” (“ROCKY!”)
“I can’t hear you!” (“ROCKY!!”)
“One more time!!” (“ROCKY!!!”) (and some funster in the audience yelling out “ADRIAN!!!” – Probably me, or another manifestation of me.)

(Note: This post was updated on October 12, 2016. Broadway Bound and Gagged has had its final curtain call, and a new cast has risen like a Phoenix – pardon the pun – from the ashes.  The Floor Show Of Phoenix is the new Rocky Horror cast, continuing a decades long tradition of Absolute Pleasure in the Grand Canyon State.)

Rocky, being not the meat packing plant employee/collection enforcer who fought his way from the streets to being one of the greatest fictional boxers the world has know, but a somewhat taller, slimmer, not too bright guy who happened to be brought to life by a crazed extraterrestrial scientist… I’m talking about “The ONE! The ONLY! The ORIGINAL—” Richard O’Brien’s greatest gift to cult film fans the world over… The Rocky Horror Picture Show!

#139 – Neither Abandoned Nor Retired

Has it really been over a year since I last made a post here. Indeed, it has… A year, and four days, to be exact.

There’s been some minor changes around here. (Disabling some behind-the-scenes stuff to harden the security of this site, and nail shut any potential vulnerabilities, and purging anything that looks out of place. I wasn’t born yesterday when it comes to web site administration duties.

The major change is… almost one year ago, I lost someone very important to me — My mother.

#137 – Best of Facebook: 3

Closing out the first month (June 2010), and moving forward…

July 13, 2010:
Watched another one of Michelle Phan’s latest makeup videos – It’s amazing how effortless, yet effective, she makes it look. (sigh…)

(Oh, yeah – I still follow Michelle Phan – there’s a lot of useful information from her videos. Now, if only I had the budget for makeup, and the skills to get my face together in less than 30 minutes. 😛 )
