#119 – Christmas (I guess it’s the little things, sometimes)

(Mirrored from Facebook earlier tonight.)

I was asked to describe what kind of rekindled the Christmas Spirit that kind of sputtered and died within me over the past few weeks… Well, sometimes, it’s the little things. (Doesn’t it always seem to be the little things?)

“On The Last Episode of Julie Anne…”
– She’s still out of work, it’s been over two weeks now… Gee, just like 16 years ago, innit?
– Self-doubt about her own abilities, much less being able to keep a job and do the work if she can find another job, yet she doesn’t have a problem with being comfortable in her own skin (Well, then, why isn’t she taking the plunge and coming out and going full time?)
[Easy, it’s kind of rough to do it without a job, without income, and not really having things set up with a place to stay if she gets booted out of her mom’s house.]

Monday, Christmas Eve 2012 – Mom’s preparing dinner for the family gathering. (At Julie’s sister’s house!)
… And we’re missing a roasting pan to accommodate a good-sized portion of pork loin to roast. (Yeah, Julie Anne left the pan at someone’s house after Thanksgiving. oops!) ^_^;

So… it’s a mad rush to Fry’s down the road from Salon De Julie Anne… Wall to wall people… Not sure if she can find what she’s looking for – A roasting pan, and 16 ounces of Kroger-branded sour cream.

I just about gave up after five minutes, and was about to abandon to head to Dollar General across the street for sour cream…

When I saw it… out there in a display of other stuff, mostly other cookware, out on the main floor or Fry’s…. One roasting pan, still in the box… perhaps the last one in stock? Yeah, after about a minute to think about it, I grabbed it….

And then, a quick trip across the store to the dairy section to get the sour cream, and I was just about frozen, seeing that most of the good stuff was picked over. (Sis isn’t big on Daisy Sour Cream) – Someone else came up, spotted the last three 16 oz. containers, took two for her, and left one for me.

Like I said, it’s the little things… The unexpected miracles, and the kindness of others… (Well, as I played it off with typical guy banter… Yeah, I was in boy-mode again… I’ve gotta stop doing that….)

It’s a start, I guess… The road is still long, but I guess it doesn’t matter, as long as you make up your mind to keep moving forward, even with every setback.

#113 – Perhaps mini-posts, or Best Of Facebook?

Just a thought, since I seem to spend most of my time on FB. (http://www.facebook.com/julieanne.morgan3) – What do I post there? Whatever’s on my mind.

I’ve been out quite a few times in March, at least three separate occasions, all have been quite good times, most of them out in public. I’ll see if I can get a write-up on early March, and my day in San Jose, at a toy/collectible show, and an afternoon and evening with friends at a cosplay gathering, and later in the day, in downtown San Jose.

Stay tuned! (I need to ramp up activity on here anyway!)

#112 – Semi-Monthly Update: FAQ Added, More Out And About Stuff…

I’ve been getting out, on my own, and with others, and there are a few more outings planned. I had a lot of fun this past Saturday, at the 4th Anniversary Social for the River City Gems up in Sacramento, CA. (Even though I was getting over a cold, and it was rather chilly in the evening, it was still a great day out.)

I’ve added a series of Frequently Asked Questions up here, as you’ll see up in the top menu bar. (If you’re not viewing this in the mobile-friendly version, which, of course, can be set to show the full non-mobile site on most smartphones. This site works in the webkit-based browsers on most smartphones.) – It’ll be the one source that I’ll refer back to from Facebook, Tumblr, Flickr, or elsewhere.

Why do I do this. Well, because I can, and I do want people to know about me, or at least attempt to understand. (Especially my friends I have come out to.)

Wow, this was a long update! More to come, whenever I can pull myself away from Lord Of The Rings Online – Geez, that game is addicting!

#111 – After A Brief Break, Back To The Good Part!

First off, reports of my Flickr account’s demise are greatly exaggerated. Here’s Wave One of the catch-up since the end of 2011!
Catching Up - 01 Catching Up - 03 Catching Up - 04 Catching Up - 05 Lips must always be perfect...
I’ll see if I can get a couple more up soon!

Other than that, still out of work, still pushing that envelope, and still exploring the hidden treasure and greatest adventure of my life that is… well… me. ^_^;

I’m back on track for weight loss, returning to Weight Watchers, tracking portions, food choices, and trying to integrate regular exercise into the program. Of note – A pair of size 24 Dickies Girl college pants I purchased back in the spring of last year are quite loose in the waist. I think I’m ready for size 22, or perhaps 20. ^_^;

More updates when I can. This is me when I’m running my own program… finally!

#106 – Quick Update (Back Out Of The Rabbit Hole For A Bit)

(#106 for those keeping track. ^_^; )

I never did mention that I saw Jack & Jill at a local theater – as myself. (Not giving a damn what others thought of me.) I had fun, and never “broke character” the whole time through. (The film started a bit slow, but picked up – I’d say it’s up there, at least a somewhere behind The Wedding Singer – I never did bother to see The Waterboy, or Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy, or even 50 First Dates. – I saw Punch-Drunk Love when it came out years ago, but that was a film directed by one of my favorite directors (love him or hate him), P.T. Anderson. (Boogie Nights, Magnolia, There Will Be Blood)

And, I just realized, as I was getting my outfit ready for this coming Saturday (Going to the Super Toy Show in San Jose!), that it’s the exact same outfit I wore to the movies, and to the mall beforehand. (Including dinner at BJ’s – another successful night out as myself, including small talk with one of the ladies showing me to my booth. ^_^; )

Photo catch-up coming soon from my exciting (at least for me) November, including a lot of me time. ^_^;

I am continuing to smile, even in tough times – I will not be denied, forced back into the closet, or give up fighting for what I want – the chance to be out on my own, as myself, living my life, and reinventing myself as the person I was meant to be.

#105 – TDOR 2011 Epilogue – What Happened After…

(#105 in a series – This one was originally posted at Facebook – Entry here (May not work) – The Merc, of course, is The Mercantile Saloon on 20th and L streets in midtown Sacramento’s “Lavender Heights” area (Just one of many gay bars) – Cheap, strong drinks, and an interesting place where you’re guaranteed to see a few tgirls from time to time. ^_^; )

Fun stuff at The Merc near the end of the night. Two honest-to-god 3rd generation goths, having a mini-rave to Lady GaGa’s “Judas” on the jukebox.

One of them, a guy 20 years younger than I (Old enough to be my son), comes over to me, and we talk… about music, why Faces is a better place to party at than The Merc (Which is mainly good for cheap, strong drinks.)

He asked me if I was a nun. He figured out I was a tgirl. He was cool with it. He came up from South Central L.A.

We exchanged phone numbers. ^_^;

#104 – The (not-so) Short Version of Why Sunday Was A “Dead Julie Anne Day”

(Post 104 in a continuing series – Stay Tuned, recaps will return, but first, this somewhat serious entry.)

1. Totally exhausted from 2 days’ of 5 hours’ sleep on average, as well as two trips to and from the Bay Area (Friday in San Jose, Saturday in Burlingame.)

2. Bummed out from the double-whammy of not going to YaoiCon as myself (in boy-mode this year.), seeing others dressed up in goth/raver/cyber, crossplay, or other cute attire — As well as finding out that YaoiCon is moving to Los Angeles in 2012.

3. Impending need to get new insurance, in the wake of no more COBRA due to no more previous employer (shut down operations at end of September).

#103 – After San Francisco Pride 2011 (July)

(What Happened To 102?) – There are no fractional posts – This is the 103rd, and posts are not necessarily numbered. The site is not dead, in fact, I’ve picked up a blog follower – Large Blooming Flower – Expect to be added!

Anyway. July 2011: Posting the photos and blogs from San Francisco Pride (Still one of my best times out I’ve had in like…. forever.) – Discovering the joys of staying connected on the go, whether at Starbucks, or my local mall, off the wi-fi on my netbook, and on my Android phone. I saw Super 8 at the theatre, and enjoyed it! I also saw the best fireworks show for free. (From the skies over my own driveway – though they were illegal, as noted by the appearance of helicopters criss-crossing the skies over my neighborhood.) – I also continued feeding my Criminal Minds habit (For those who know me well enough, or follow my Facebook posts, Penelope Garcia is my hero, and my role model. ^_^; Did I mention I own the first five seasons on DVD? )

#101 – The Short List Since June…

Quite a few outings, even breaking the “Golden Rule” about not going about dressed up in one’s own hometown. (Threw that part of the “rulebook” out the window… heh heh heh…)

There’s also the usual monthly trips up to Sacramento for socials with the River City Gems, and nightcaps in Midtown/Lavender Heights after some of those socials.

The Luau Party with the Gems was an incredible experience, especially my first time among others in a one-piece swimsuit… ^_^; (And peep-toe wedges, and a cute beach hat..) – I even waded about in the pool and played volleyball with some of the other girls! ^_^;

My birthday was interesting – If I didn’t do any special outings, all my friends online, on both of my Facebook accounts, sent me birthday greetings… I tell you, it got me all choked up… Getting a tasty chocolate cupcake at the August Gems social, and a card signed by some of the girls with the Gems brought tears to my eyes… ^_^; (But I’ll always be eternally young-at-heart. ^_-; )

September, while not quite cooling down as much as I wanted, brought a few more outings, and some me-time in town, and the return to school, as I get my geek girl credentials for real! – It also ended with my return to River City Sparkle, where I pulled out as many of the stops as I could, and had a good time, and got out as myself among the “normal folk” as well! ^_^;

This month’s doing quite well, with my first trip up to Sacramento to see “Repo! The Genetic Opera”, and a showing of Rocky Horror Picture show here in my hometown towards the end of the week. (Debating whether I’ll have some local friends I know come with me, and if I’ll dust off the little black dress for the show!)

I’ll go into more depth on what I’ve been doing over the last few months in the next few posts… Stay tuned! **huggs**
