#123 – Stuff I Don’t Regret Challenge (001) – “That LBD” And Memories At Sun Valley Mall

More or less stuff, trans or not, that I’ve done over the last 25+ years, that I’d more or less do again, regardless.

SunValley Mall in Concord, California – Kind of a special place in my life… I’ve been there at least half a dozen times over the past 20 years, stemming from a visit there in the late 1980s or early 1990s, when there was still an arcade there (I remember playing Taito’s arcade game adaptation of Rambo III), and the Atari Lynx handheld game system was introduced to the masses. Quite a bit has been written about it (And not just about the air crash tragedy that happened just before Christmas 1985) – check out the write-up and vintage postcards posted up by BigMallrat.

For me, it was a place to explore in my wanderlust, when I’d road trip around Northern California. I’ve been there quite a few times, especially within my last few years I lived in California. Sometimes, I wonder what my life would have been like, if I had lived in Concord, Martinez, or even Walnut Creek or San Ramon?

In summer 2009, it was the place where I bought a very special birthday present for myself – my first actual dress, naturally, a Little Black Dress by Scarlett Nite from JCPenney. It’s still one of my favorites, paired with black tights, over-the-elbow length opera gloves, 3″ heels, and appropriate accessories. ^_^;

I went back to SunValley a few times before and after, to purchase a few pairs of shoes, check out the interesting duplication of GameStop and Subway locations there, dining at the Japanese/Chinese buffet, when it was called Todai, and then when it was known as Tomi (Oddly enough, I’ve been to the Tomi Sushi & Seafood Buffet locations in Concord, CA, and San Jose, CA, as myself, as well as in boy-mode, but that’s another story for another time. ^_^; )

I also had a rather fun afternoon and evening window shopping, and just being seen… Just like any other woman would. ^_^;

Yeah, when I come back to California to visit, or re-establish a home there, I’d visit SunValley, just because. If you’re in the area, check it out sometime.
